Seer Abraham Richard took position at the pulpit from the soulful worship moment and reiterated: Those who trust in Jesus are assured of victory, let us persist, for nothing just happens to a believer. With a message titled Carry Your Cross and Follow Jesus.

Let us examine the gospel of Saint Luke Chapter 14 verse 25: Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters —yes, even their own life —such a person cannot be my disciple.  And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

What does Christ Jesus mean in this scripture? He is talking about two classes of people, those who cannot deny their lives and those who cannot carry their cross and follow Him. If you cannot lay down your life and will down to carry His, then you cannot be His disciple. How do I lay down my life? Laying down your wills for Christ’s Will.

Believer, look at your life, whose will are you carrying? I advise you that whatever you are pursing in your life (money, relationship, business etc) make sure you are doing it for the sake of Christ. Our greatest challenge today is fighting God’s Will.

If you cannot lay down your life and pick up the one of Christ, then the road will be hard for you. If you are struggling with life today, be sure of one thing; your commitment to God has a question mark. If only you can choose to commit your life to Him, He will take up all your issues. They will not weigh you down because Jesus is available to help you.

If you choose to carry it by yourself, it will be too heavy, and you will break. Meaning you cannot carry the work of the Cross or be a true Christian when you are taking your life in your own hands. You cannot manage this world without receiving help from God. The more you choose to commit yourself to Him, the more He takes up all the challenges.

People will see you walking freely because the reason the Son of God came is to give you life. I know the question you are asking yourself right now is; how does God dominate my life? It all begins with committing yourself to Him then He will dominate your life, take up your challenges, and overcome for you.

The more you allow Him to dominate, He will take full control of your life. A true Christian cannot live; their own life and Christ Jesus’ life. One has to dominate, and the one that dominates is the one that you will always submit to.

As you are reading this message, one thing I am sure you are asking yourself is: What is the cross that I am supposed to carry? It is the Will of God in your life. What the LORD has destined you to be; that is your cross. Therefore, you should carry it and follow Him.

However, it all begins with you knowing your calling and purpose on earth that will help you carry your cross and pursue God. That simply means that if you do not know your purpose of creation, you have never been a Christian or even known Christ Jesus.

Therefore, before talking about your being saved, you need to know your purpose.
I assure you, your being what you are today was not your strength, but God has written and designed it. Begin to pursue it because a true Christian does not have a life of their own.

You do things according to God’s Will and the more you put your focus on Jesus, the assignment burden becomes bearable. Look at Apostle Peter when His eyes were on Jesus, he could walk on water and the moment he took his eyes off Jesus; the assignment became heavy, and He began to drown (Matthew 14: 22-33).

Meaning you have to carry the cross and look at Jesus, morning, evening and afternoon. When He goes on His knees, go on yours too with your cross. However, let me remind you that when you commit your life totally to Jesus, you get an enemy called satan.

One thing you should be assured of is that satan will hate you as he hates Christ Jesus. This alone will be a source of persecution in our lives. If you fear annoying people and persecution, then you cannot be a disciple of Jesus.

As we conclude this spirit edifying message, I want to advise you one thing: lay down your will and take up Christ Jesus’ Will. Carry your cross (calling or assignment) and follow Christ Jesus.
