Seer Abraham Richard was asked a profound question that we believe will help every worshipper who wants to serve the LORD.
QN: Is there a difference between Christian music and worship music?
RESPONSE:
One important lesson I have learned during my walk with Christ Jesus is that there is a difference between Christian music and worship music. At first, I simply wanted to sing Christian songs but God Almighty would later teach me that worship is far deeper than music.
I used to call this ministry (worship and praise) an assignment, but it is not really an assignment. It is what we were created to do. Healing, prophecy, and teaching are assignments, but worship is our purpose. Even after we leave this world, we will still worship God.
However, Christian music is different, there is a clear distinction between the two.
Anyone talented can sing Christian music, and it can be played anywhere, it can even be played in bars. It is calming to the mind and encouraging to those who listen for a moment, but your spirit may still remain wounded. Many people who go to bars are there to relieve stress. So, when they listen to calm, encouraging Christian music, there is nothing wrong with that.
However, you may feel hopeful for a moment, and then the next morning you find yourself back in sorrow because it does not have the depth of the Spirit to lead you into complete healing.
Take to note: Worship music is never played in bars. First of all, many people find it boring because it is not meant for entertainment. It is meant for those who have set their hearts on God Almighty. As the LORD was teaching me, I realized that the worship ministry is the Ministry of the Holy Spirit.
The major purpose of worship music is to draw you closer to God and to prepare you for the next assignment from God. It heals your spirit, soul, and body. Most importantly, it helps you maintain the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life. The praise and worship ministry helps reveal the very reason for our creation. It is the only thing we do here on earth that is also done in Heaven. In fact, it is the only ministry that exists both on earth and in Heaven.
All the other gifts; prophecy, healing, and miracles will one day come to an end, but worship will never end. That is why, as we engage in worship, we must have the understanding that this is who we are and what we were created to do. So, when we worship here on earth, we activate that Heavenly realm and our spirits become alive even before we get there.
The Saints and all the Angels are worshipping God. They are not prophesying or performing miracles; they are worshipping because they have come to where they truly belong.
The Bible says in Revelation 4:9-11 that; whenever the living creatures worship, the twenty-four elders also bow down and worship the One who sits on the throne. This means that wherever there is true worship going on, the spiritual realm is activated.
Your spirit becomes alive in the spiritual realm and joins the elders and the Angels in bowing before the LORD. So, when we come into the worship ministry, we have come to understand our very purpose for creation.
Worship music is led and organized by the Holy Spirit Himself. I can begin simply by laying my hands on the piano, and the Holy Spirit will begin to guide my hands on what to play. Anyone may call it confusion, but what you call confusion is healing someone. When we talk about worship, it is organized, played, and sung by the Holy Spirit using men. When He comes, He wants to lead you until you reach the presence of God.
The Word of God says in Zechariah 12:10, “I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of Grace and supplication.”
The worship ministry, ministers to your spirit and your soul, therefore, if you are not prepared well in your spirit, it becomes difficult to receive healing and breakthrough. This is because all prayers are led by the Spirit of God and the spirit of prayer comes from the preparation of worship.
Look at the people of the world, they can hardly do anything without music. They understand its influence and use it deeply. In the same way, when people who have devoted themselves to evil gather for their worship, everyone who joins them is possessed by the atmosphere they create.
Likewise, when a person who has fully dedicated himself to the Holy Spirit begins to worship, the entire atmosphere becomes charged. People’s hearts are touched, and they are moved to where God Almighty wants them to be.
So, you can see there is a clear distinction between Christian music and worship music. Christian music is to calm the mind and relive stress but for a moment, however, worship music is to draw you closer to God, prepare you for the next assignment and heal your spirit and soul.
