As the calendar gently turned to the 16th March 2025, Seer Abraham Richard took to the airwaves at exactly 06:00PM East Africa Time, reaching a global congregation connected through Dew Radio. With a warm and Spirit-led welcome, he opened the session: “Good Morning Today, and welcome to the Sunday Evening Meditation.”
He continued with a heartfelt reflection: “I was praying and asking God to allow me the grace to speak to you and He has given me the opportunity. “On this programme, we dive deep into the Word of God and explore its transforming power in our daily lives.”
He then introduced the theme for the evening: “Today, we shall speak about a sacred calling that every believer must confront and embrace ‘Carrying the Cross and Following Jesus.’”
Reflect with the Seer:
Let us begin with the words of Christ Jesus in the gospel of Saint Luke chapter 9 verse 23 to 26: 23Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. 25What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? 26 Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.
With this scripture, you should be having a question pondering in your mind, like; What does the LORD mean by denying your life? Many people think when I say carrying the cross, it is enduring suffering. No, it goes deeper. In Christ Jesus’ time, the cross represented death. Whoever they saw carry a cross they knew that person was going to die.
Carrying the cross is giving up your ways and choosing His ways; obedience, sacrifice and total surrender. The gospel of Saint Matthew chapter 11 verse 29 to 30 says: 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
The cross is the yoke of Jesus, you can call it the assignment, Will, duty God gave you or the reason for your existence in God; to bring Him the Glory. I pray the HolySpirit helps you understand the revelation behind this message.
Understanding the Assignment
Whenever we come to Christ and he heals us, He gives us assignments to do. For example, when Jesus met Peter at the lake, He performed a miracle that converted him. Eventually Jesus assigned him the duty of being a fisher of men not fish. The way Apostle Peter would fulfil this task by being close to Jesus.
When people deserted Jesus on different occasions, He asked Peter if he wanted to leave too and drop the assignment. In response he said no. [scripture ref: Saint Matthew chapter 16:18-20]. According to this scripture, Peter’s destiny was already designed by Jesus.
The more we keep near the men and women of God, our goings get lighter. God’s Will, assignments and York gets lighter because the Spirit on our Spiritual leader will always guide us. The moment you lose sight, the yoke will become so deadly to you like you have never imagined.
Look at the life of Apostle Paul after being arrested and the Grace of God healing him, he was given an assignment [Acts of Apostles chapter 9:1-25]. You too, you were delivered; what assignment were you given? The assignment given to you draws the Grace of God to help you. Grace of God works best when you have an assignment or calling from God upon your life.
Believers, Grace is not just a word but power that works on the assignment God has given you not your daily problem. Apostle Paul says; the LORD put a thorn in my flesh, whenever he asked the LORD to take it away, in response the LORD said; all you need is my Grace to go through it [2 Corinthians chapter 12 verse 9.]
The Grace of God works best in a man’s life who is fully aware of God’s assignment in his life. When Christ Jesus was covered with grief and anguish, He cried to His Father in Heaven and Angles came and strengthen Him [Saint Luke 22:39-44.]
This means no man will ever strengthen you in the assignment God gave you, apart from God Himself. Thus the Grace of God works best for a man with a calling of God on his life. He gives the Grace for things that benefit and bring Him Glory. So miracles from God cannot come to you unless you keep in His presence.
Meditation Point: The Grace of God works best for a man who walks in his God-given assignment.
When Christ Jesus wanted to give up due to the conflict between the His body and the Spirit, He chose to surrender. You too, pick a leaf Him, whenever the flesh dominates and surrender. It is at this time that we feel like giving up on God’s assignment because it feels heavy.
Even when Pontious Pilate tried to save Jesus, He did not throw in a towel; that is why Angels were sent to strength Him to carry the cross [Luke chapter 23]. If you do not remember your assignment, then you have never been a Christian. You are supposed to pray according to the assignments God gave you.
Prayer Life and Purpose:
Your base of prayer should be what you were you commissioned to do. When you are revealed to God’s will about your life; He will also reveal the people you need like Apostle Peter and Christ Jesus.
The reason Christians stumble and fall today is because they do not know who they are and God’s call upon their lives. Jesus knew that the cross would lead Him to victory and He persisted.
If you follow Him, He will give you strength. Your life is a one way ticket, live, dress, talk and do everything for Him [Galatians chapter 2 verse 20]. If you do so, you have slapped the devil and he will not control you [Matthew chapter 4.]
Be careful not to grumble about your situation. It might be the very tool God is using to shape your calling. As we conclude this Sunday Evening Meditation, think about this: Have you carried or done what Christ commissioned you to do? If not, you are carrying the yoke of evil in your life.
Final Reflection:
Examine yourself because this revelation is in line with your life. Remember, we are not alone He walks with us. Therefore, choose to pick God’s Will every time you pray, Grace will quickly come to save you.
Shalom as you reflect on these words and walk in faith, may the LORD strengthen you.
