Proof Text: The Gospel of Saint John chapter 15 verse 1 to 4

Taught by Teacher Kirabo as inspired by the Holy Spirit

Teacher Kirabo taught from the book of John 15:1-4. Verse 1: ‘I am the true vine and my father is the gardener. Verse 2: He breaks off every branch in me that does not bear fruit. While every branch that bears fruit, he prunes so that it will be more faithful. Verse 3: you are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Verse 4: remain in me as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by its self it must remain in the vine, and neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

The teacher using an illustration of branches shares with the class: I have come with practical branches so that we can learn better. With me, I have two tree branches; one has branches with leaves only and the other one has branches, leaves and flowers!

We are supposed to be like the second branch that bears fruit [flowers]. The Almighty GOD is the gardener; we are the branches and Christ Jesus expects us to bear fruit (flower).

In verses 2, the gardener that is GOD Almighty breaks off every branch that does not bear fruit. Teacher Kirabo paused a question: Which fruits do you think Christ Jesus wants us to bear? Fruits of peace, love, forgiveness, obedience, endurance and persistence etal.

The only way we can bear these fruits is by listening to the Word of God and putting it in practise. The Word the LORD had given us today is to bear His fruit. If we bear these fruits, we shall be His friends. However, when we fail to bear fruit, Christ Jesus will cut us off. How sad it will be to lose friendship with Christ Jesus, so let us work by the Grace to bear fruit.

Teacher Kirabo led us to pray that can all bear the fruit that Christ Jesus wants.

Prayer: Holy Spirit of Christ Jesus, please help me to bear fruit so that I can remain a branch in the garden of the LORD. Help me to bear fruits of obedience, love, forgiveness and trust in You. Amen.
