Graced with the Spirit of God, the Servant of God, Abraham Richard Bisaso took his position at the pulpit to share with the believers the Word of God. Inspired by a faith question and message titled, What is needed for one to give to God? He taught.
Good morning to your soul and spirit! Let me share something with you. It is either today or tomorrow, but one day you will need to remember this message. As long as we are here to serve God, we shall need to have knowledge about what is needed if we are to give to God. You and I we all give back to God, but how do I give back to God?
Matthew 5:21-24: “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell. 23 “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.
The Word of God brings it out so clearly; it is a requirement that before you give back to God; you need to have a free heart, humility, obedience and with a cheerful heart. There must not be offence before you give back to God. The Bible has said if you are taking your gift to God and you remember the person you have a grudge with, put the offering aside, go back and reconcile with the person you have a conflict with.
The LORD will not tamper with your offering unless you come back. Why? When you come before the LORD with your offering, the LORD will look into your heart to answer back. But you will not hear His voice when He answers back because offense has blocked your heart.
In Luke 21:1-3, Jesus stood beside the offering box and watched people tossing in their offering. As He observed them, He called one of His disciples and said that these people are giving out of their plenty, others to show off, but the poor widow has given out of her poverty with a free heart.
A free heart is a heart without offence that is why Jesus said that this lady has given the most. It is necessary to revise the way we give to God. If we truly want to get God’s attention, we shall have to have a free heart. Our hands represent hearts. It is your hands that carry the offering into the house of the LORD, but how clean are they?
Second, it is possible that we are bringing to God but without a cheerful heart. You bring your offering before the LORD while grumbling. Many of us are giving out of complaining. You know what the scriptures say in Acts 20:35 that it is more blessed to give than to receive. The greatest joy is when you are in a giving position!
The Word “Blessed” is enough to bring joy to your heart when you are giving. When our forefathers were coming to bring their offerings, they would come with so much joy. Be with joy when you are coming to give in God’s presence.
Third, obedience must go hand in hand with giving to God. If you do not give, your obedience, no matter how great it is, will not be well explained. God wants to see a free heart, with obedience and cheerfulness, before you come to His Altar.
Believer, you should not give what you do not Love and treasure. Look at your life as well. You cannot give to God what you do not Love and treasure. In the book of Genesis 22:1-2, we are seeing God commanding Father Abraham to give what He Loves because God has to match with our heart’s desire. God asked Abraham what was in His heart.
There is a possibility to be giving what is not in our hearts, we give what is in our minds and around us. God Loves what we also love. When you check your heart, is what is in your heart what you are giving to God. Give to God what you treasure. I believe the question running in your heart right now must be, who is giving right before the LORD?
Look at the story of Cain and Abel. Abel knew the secret of giving to God. He would always give God the best. This is missing in today’s generation. We give to God out of our plenty and we expect Him to bless us as His treasured possession. We give to God and instead of life getting better; it gets worse. Why? Something is missing, knowledge is key-give to God what you love.
Give to God what you love and He will give you what He loves as He has proved before in John 3:16: For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. God did not give us His second son but His beloved son the LORD Jesus Christ. You cannot give God what you do not love.
Finally, you cannot give to the one you do not know. The Word of God tells us in John 4:10: Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.” This is one of the biggest challenges. We do not know who we are giving to. That is why we give out of plenty. We do not even know who is speaking to us, just like the Samaritan woman. If we do not know who is asking us to give, we shall hesitate to give.
It is a privilege when the LORD asks us to give because everything we have; it is by Grace that He has given it to us. When you read the story of Jacob and Laban, you come to understand that Laban did not know that he was dealing with a blessed man by God. A man that has God is wealthy and yet the world does not know. A true blessing takes time to be seen by people.
Many of us are giving, but we do not know who we are giving to. If Laban knew he was dealing with a blessed man (Jacob), he would have handled him better. Make God your treasure and He will also make you His treasure.
Summing the route to prosperity message, the Prophet taught: There are no tricks in God; we are supposed to follow the Word of God if we are to approach God. The source of Blessing is in giving back to God. The principle of gaining favour before the LORD is by giving back to God in humility, cheerfulness, obedience, free heart and understanding who you are giving to.
We believe with this Message; you have received a lifetime Message that you will pass on to the next generation. Shalom
