Goodmorning to you dear reader. I believe the LORD is keeping you safe for His Glory wherever you are. Today, we shall take a study in the book of Mark chapter 41-44; the story of the poor widow. I know you must also be under going a situation similar to this lady at school, with your peers or even at home. Let us learn from her for our faith to grow in Christ Jesus.
Mark 12:41-44 NIV: Verse 41: Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. Verse 42: But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Verse 43: Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. Verse 44: They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”
What important lessons can we learn from this story as children?
- From this story we learn that God wants that we also want. The poor widow gave all she had to live on; but in most cases we always look at what will we remain with when we give God. We have forgotten that He is the one that supplies to us; that even what we are refusing to give Him, He is the one that provided it. We should develop a character of giving to God from our young age
2. The rich men gave what they had to spare from their riches meaning what they gave God was not the best they had. We are supposed to give God the best of our everything just like the poor widow.
3. Giving tithe and offering to the LORD is also a crucial thing for children; this way they learn that everything they get God has a portion from it.
Therefore, we encourage you dear Children, it is important to always remember that whatever you have, it is from God and it is good to share with Him. May the LORD be with you as you put this message in practise.
