Message Title: Crushed but not broken
By: Prophet Abraham Richard
Scripture References: Gospel of Saint John 16, 2 Corinthians 4:8–10, Isaiah chapter 38
Good morning, Child of God. Today is a special day the LORD has blessed us with. Let us dive into the Word of God to nourish our souls and spirits. As inspired by the Spirit of God, Prophet Abraham Richard has come with a revelatory message to carry us through our daily lives. Let us open our hearts and receive this Word in the name of Christ Jesus.
With a message titled “Crushed but Not Broken,” he shared the following: Welcome to today’s message, believer. We shall start from the book of Saint John, chapter 16, verse 33: “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
When you read this scripture, you must ask yourself this question: Whom is Christ Jesus talking to? This message is tailor-made for those who have trusted in Him. This scripture encourages us to stay focused on Christ Jesus, because if He overcame, you too shall overcome.
Whatever you are going through—be it pain, sickness, setbacks, betrayal, or stagnation—you will go through it, and tomorrow it will be finished. As long as you are where God wants you to be, you will pass through the situation before you, and as the situation fades, God will take the glory.
Let us look into the Word of God: 2 Corinthians 4:8–10: “We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We are knocked down, but not destroyed. Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.”
The truth is that we may be attacked, but because we are where God wants us to be, we are not destroyed. For example, if God wants you to be in ministry, marriage, or leadership, and you are there, whatever challenges come your way, you will get through them. They will not destroy you because you are in the right place.
Even you who are reading this message, I know you are going through a situation. That situation may be spiritual, physical, or even both. However, I want to remind you that there will be troubles in this world. As long as we are clothed in the body, we will face situations, but they are not meant to bring us down or destroy us.
Let us go back to verse 8: “We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair.” When you read this verse, you will agree with me that “every side” refers to the four corners of life, spiritual life, finances, family, and health. The good news is that even though we are attacked, Christ Jesus does not intend for us to be crushed. He has already declared that though we are attacked, we are not crushed.
These words I am sharing with you are meant to open your spiritual eyes so that you may know your position and have the right confession. Yes, we may be pressed on every side, but we are not meant to fall. Your spirit does not have to be crushed in any situation. You may be knocked down, but your spirit is not supposed to be crushed.
We can be annoyed but not offended at heart. If you are sick or crushed in the spirit, then you are sick indeed. You can be sick in the body, but your spirit does not have to be sick. Look at the Biblical account of Hezekiah. He was sick physically, but his spirit was strong. That is why when he received the message, he said, “There is a God I can talk to” (Isaiah chapter 38).
We may be touched physically, but we must protect our spirits from being touched by the devil. Many things can happen, but you are not supposed to be offended within, because the situation before you is targeting your life. Take to note there is a great difference between a challenge and a trouble.
A challenge is something that comes to match against you to see who is stronger whilst a trouble is the enemy that wants to kill you. It wants to erase your entire existence and also take your generation. Today what we are meditating upon is the trouble that wants to destroy you completely. However, we should not forget that Christ Jesus has provided a solution in this message.
The important question you may be asking yourself is this: How can we ensure that our spirits are not crushed by the troubles of this world? By resting on the Prophetic Word spoken to us. Let your heart listen to this Word, it will preserve your spirit.
When a Word is given to you, it preserves your spirit from being crushed by the troubles of the world. Receive the Word with your heart. Possess it. Personalize it. Understand that it is meant for your spirit, and you will find rest.
When you remain standing in the spirit concerning the situation you are going through, it is a sign that you are overcoming it. As you meditate on the Word of God, you will walk in step with the Spirit of God, overcoming every battle before you, and you shall receive sight. Remember, the reason we meditate on the Word of God is to gain spiritual sight.
As we wind up this message, the Prophet reminds us that the moment we receive spiritual sight, we will be where God wants us to be. If you are where He wants you to be, He will protect you. Take the example of Joseph, the situation never crushed him because he was where God wanted him to be. Child of God, are you where God wants you to be? If so, know that your case is different from others who are going through similar situations.
Prayer: Holy Spirit of Jesus, please place me in the position where You want me to be this week. That is where I desire to be. Amen.
